So… due to personal issues, I de-activated my Facebook account last week. The crisis resolved itself (sort of… it’s a long story), but I’ve actually been enjoying my time away from Facebook, as it tends to be a distraction. I learned a valuable lesson when I de-activated my account: Social Networking sites don’t necessarily strengthen already [...] I use askimet to block comment/trackback spam, and it works… a little too well. I have moderation turned off, but pretty much any time someone posts a comment for the first time, it gets flagged as spam by askimet. Once a commenter has been recognized as a non-spammer, their comments should show up immediately. I’ve been [...] Sorry about the lack of posts today. Instead of writing new material last night, I watched a couple of episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I’ll have some stuff up tomorrow… promise. Here’s a little advice that might come in handy one of these days: any blog that uses a Carl Panzram quote as its tagline is probably Not Safe For Work. There. I just wanted to get that out of the way. I’m firmly in agreement with Marc Randazza about the “NSFW” label, but for slightly different [...] After making The Agitator’s Morning Links and Hit & Run’s front page this site had an enormous spike in traffic. Hell, within a few hours of this site being linked from Radley Balko’s Twitter feed, I had received more traffic than this site has had in its short (about two months) existence. In what other ways [...] I’m testing out a new banner for the site. I think it works, as it pisses me off just looking at the thing, and that’s kind of the point. A commenter had suggested Benny Hinn as a punchable face for the banner, and I definitely agree. Alas, that Ray Comfort image was too good to pass [...] In 1964 (the year I was born), my dad began his career with Exxon (then known as Esso) as a draftsman at the King Ranch Gas Plant. Supposedly, the office was populated with fresh-out-of-college dipshits who couldn’t read a map to save their lives. Being the helpful type, my dad added some visual aids in order [...] Reason’s Hit & Run commenters do not disappoint. Here’s some more:

In honor of the recent Media Matters (and Rachel Maddow) versus the Heritage Foundation controversy, I’d like to point out that Reason.com is having a “Webathon” in an attempt to get 500 donations in 8 days. Let it be known that I am on record as being a little curious about the juxtaposition of asking [...] I’m think of creating a header image for the site composed of people who suffer from severe backpfeifengesicht; that is to say, people whose faces cry out to be punched.
