It would be too easy to take the low road and say “how typically Christian”; sure, the lyrics are fucked-up in a way that only Christians could [...] This video – from the 1941 Jorge Negrete film, ¡Ay Jalisco, No Te Rajes! is introduced as “THE GREATEST CANTINA SCENE EVER”. Great, sure, but no one gets shot and nary a chair is broken over anyone’s head, so “greatest” might be an overstatement. Still, there’s enough celebration of debauchery in this clip to make [...] It was suggested to me that I follow up the Cold Hard Facts of Life with a tribute to The Louvin Brothers’ Tragic Songs of Life album, but if we’re gonna discuss The Louvin Brothers and rad album covers, the discussion ends with Satan is Real: The Satan from South Park, back in his younger, [...] Sorry about the lack of posts today. Instead of writing new material last night, I watched a couple of episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I’ll have some stuff up tomorrow… promise. The downside to the digital music era: no more badass album covers like Porter Wagoner’s The Cold Hard Facts of Life.
